Travel Deals: Rio, Spain, Win Orlando Lodging

Posted 11:15 April 17, 2001

Rio For Cheap

Her name is Rio, and she's dancing over there … at least I think that's how that Duran Duran song went. No matter -- the point is, her name is Rio, and she's probably dancing in some fashion, or just generally enjoying her life and doing well.

What does this have to do with travel deals, you ask? Well, by an amazing coincidence, we have a terrific deal to Rio to offer -- five nights, airfare and accommodations, for $705, plus tax, from New York, Boston and Philadelphia.

I know, you don't live in those cities; you live in California. Well, I know that there's only a $150 add-on to go from San Francisco. Other cities have similar add-ons, but you'll have to find out for yourself. I'm only one man.

It all might sound cut-rate, but it's not. With this deal, you have a choice of three-star hotels, all of which are a block or two from Copacabana beach and have private baths, air conditioning, small refrigerators and TV.

For more information, call Brazilian Vacations at 1-800-848-2746.

Spain's Costa del Sol

Some don't like going to Spain's Costa del Sol in the winter. Sure, the temps are in the 50s, which is not very sunny. But when it is sunny, the durn place is so crowded and expensive that it makes you wonder why you didn't stay home and just spend your vacation riding pay elevators.

That wasn't a good metaphor, but this is a great deal. The "All-Inclusive Costa Del Sol" gives you airfare, 13 nights accommodation, all meals and beverages, extensive daily tours -- everything, basically. From San Francisco or Los Angeles, the cost is only $1345 per person.

For more information, call Grand Circle Travel at 800/221-2610. You could also try its Web site, www.gct.com.
